Hello!

I started writing this blog when I was doing my chartership, but now I use is more as a record of professional development and anything interesting that I’ve been up to as part of my work. I work as a senior library assistant in a university library, where I’m responsible for cataloguing and assisting with the administration of the institutional repository.

    Hi Lilian,

Thanks so much for having a look at my blog :)I’ve added yours to my list too. In fact, I think I might post to the LIS-BLOGGERS group inviting others to join us!

    Hi!

I happened upon your blog whilst looking for information on eventually doing my chartership. I’ve just started my job as a Library Manager at a small college in North Wales and love it. I’ve been working on and off in my local library to finance my studies: a BA and recently an MTh. Unfortunately both qualifications are in feminist philosophy rather than library work but I’m hoping to do a conversion course of somekind. I hope your chartership is going ok, it’s really hard to keep pushing yourself to study so I think you’re on to a good thing with this blog.

    Lots of smiles,

    Anna

    Hi Anna,

Thanks for your comment. I also did a BA and MTh and then did a further postgrad course in Library and Information Studies (one year full time). You could look into doing something part-time and carry on working at the same time. You can also do a certification course through CILIP and once you have this you are then eligible to appy for Chartership. Sorry if you know all this already!

    Thanks for the encouragement!

    Lilian
